Pinellas Park --- Mayor Sandra Bradbury has announced a new twist on public meetings, meeting the public. The Mayor, Council Members and City Administrators will meet with residents from 7:30 until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012. Residents and guests will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with Council Members and staff to discuss city services and other topics of their choice. The informal session will be held at the Pinellas Park Performing Arts Center, 4981 78th Ave. N.
“Many times residents do not want to attend more formal gatherings or address their issues at televised council meetings,” said Mayor Bradbury. “We want residents, visitors and members of our business community to feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and concerns,” she added.
The casual meet-and-greet setting will allow folks to address issues with the administrator who overseas each city department or with Council Members directly without sitting through an entire meeting or having the time limitations that often occur at City Council Meetings.
Florida’s Sunshine Law requires that all actions taken by elected bodies must be done publicly. Residents and guests may share ideas with individual Council Members but no actions will be taken at the reception. Limited refreshments will be served.
