Owner, Kelly Bradshaw, was born in upstate NY in a small farming community. Leaving NY for college @ FIT School of Aeronautics in Florida, he spent 4 years in the aviation industry and then 8 years as a Regional Manager for a residential property management firm before going on his own in 1990 with Island Lawn.
Kelly’s wife, Karlyn, is a native born Floridian from Orlando. They met while she was working as a Training/Marketing director in property management. Karlyn came on board at Island in 1995 and they have worked together for the last 12 yrs building the company into a custom landscape design and installation business.
In the spring of 2006, they purchased a distressed property in Pinellas Park and relocated from Largo. After working the past year and half to resolve existing city code violations, they developed a unique landscape design center to promote their newest venture, Bamboo. The design center showcases the ability to use Florida’s tropical landscape materials in conjunction with exotic (non-invasive) clumping bamboos as showcase specimens or natural (green) barriers. They are indebted to their 4 employees that have help them achieve the success they are enjoying.
The Bradshaw’s have 3 children. A son in Tallahassee is a Lieutenant with the FWC, a daughter, in New Smyrna Beach, is a teacher and the youngest daughter is a nurse in the Philadelphia, PA area.
Their business is located at 6540 85th Ave., Pinellas Park, FL. When it was first purchased the property needed a lot of hard work and dedication to produce the outstanding business facility that is now home to their business. It is now a bamboo nursery and design center specializing in 1200 hundred species of “clumping” bamboo. The owners love bamboo and the opportunity to help customers realize their dream of owning a beautiful garden to find peace, relaxation and enjoyment
